John Montague

As a teacher, John Montague sees each improviser as both an individual and a part of the whole. With small classes, he gives each student personal attention, building their unique strengths as an improviser. He believes the true concept of "group mind" has been abandoned, and he is dedicated to reviving this critical element of the artform. John is currently a member of New York's only tragic improv group, "Harsh". He has performed regularly at The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre and The Magnet Theater. He also works with the well-reknowned street group Improv Everywhere. John has studied with Ari Voukydis, Joe Bill, Armando Diaz, Michael Delaney, Kevin Mullaney, Billy Merritt, Julie Brister, Seth Morris, Dyna Moe, and Rachel Hamilton. He has a BA in theatre from The University of Virginia.
